I do agree with Irina about this site. I also blogged on this web page and it is very useful. The blog "Bank Street~ELL helpful site" in the may month has different categories on things that you might want to find out about ELL students!!! One area that I didn’t mention in my site that I found very useful is the support the UK gives to those who are trying to learn English! It’s almost to the point where they are giving more support than we do in the United States!!

This website is very valuable to teachers with little experience working with ELL students. I also feel that students are fragile members in a community. Every experience impacts their life in some way. As a teacher it is important to gain the confidence and trust of your students from the beginning of the year. This site gives strategies to use to learn information about your students. Some examples were what country the student came from, how long they have been in this country, if they can read in their native language, and what topics they covered in their previous school. I really liked how the site provided a sample lesson of a first experience working with ELL students. This is valuable because it tells you exactly what to bring to the session, what information you should try to find out from the students, and some activities you can do.
